Montfort School - Harinagar

The main shool building was constructed in the time of Bro. William Kerketta and Bro. Antony Swami. They stayed in the Parish, Dungripada for an year and then in a rented house at Harinagar village and when the school building was ready they shifted to the school building and stayed in a classroom. The residence for the Brothers also was constructed during the time of Brother William Kerketta and was inaugurated and blessed in the time of Bro. Sunil Soreng.

Brothers stayed in one of the class rooms in the school building till 2009. In 2009 the brothers shifted to the residence in 2009. The community of the brothers consisted of Bro. Sunil Soreng, Bro. Emmanuel Tudu and Bro. AmitLakra. In 2009, Bro. Emmanuel Tudu was transferred and Bro. John Minj replaced him as a new community member. After one year Bro. AmitLakra too was replaced by Bro. Barnabas Tete as bursar and Sanskrit teacher in 2010. Bro. Vinay joined the community for about six months and was shifted to Roorkee community.

Sr. Licy, Sr. Ancy and Sr, Elizabeth, the FDM Sisters from Mysore from joined us as collaborators in the year 2009, They were accommodated in one of the class rooms till their convent building was constructed. Many sisters rendered their service in the school as well as in the dispensary. The sisters who rendered their serve in the school as teachers are Srs.Lisy, Sr. Ancy, Sr. Elizabeth,  Sr. Lily, Sr. Prasana, Sr. Jyoti, Sr. Jincy, Sr. Beena, Sr. Manju, Sr. Regina. Sr. Roseline and Sr. Divya were the nurses in the dispensary.    

Harinagar, being a remote and under developed village there was lack of teachers to teach in English medium; Bro. Sunil Soreng tried his best to get teachers from U.P. Odisha, Jharkhand and other places, Mostly those who were ex-nuns or seminarians were recruited. They were provided accommodation in the school building. 

The people of the place wanted their children to be taught in English medium school and there were no English medium school was available. The number of children increased year by year. Children from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh took admission in the school. The more classrooms were required, so Bro. Sunil Soreng constructed another wing for primary and pre-primary after leveling the hillock.  At the same time the playground was also leveled and made playable some games.

The sisters are given half of acre of land in leas to construct their convent. In 2011 the convent cum dispensary was ready and sisters vacated from the school building to convent in 2011.

Bro. Barnabas Tete was replaced by Bro. Charles J.A. Community of Brothers consisted of Bro. Sunil Soreng, Bro. John Minj and Bro. Charles J.A. Due to some unavoidable reason between the academic session Bro. Sunil Soreng left the place in 2014 and Bro. John Minj was appointed as interim Superior and Principal of the School. In the same year in month of June Bro. Varghese P. was appointed as Principal of the School and Bro. John Minj Continued as Superior in the community. Bro. Varghese P. made a retention wall and leveled the place in front of the Primary. He also put the retention wall towards the river side to avoid the erosion of soil from the playground. He also planted the trees all around the boundary of the campus. In between the year Bro, Charles also left the place due some reason. Then Bro. Raj KishorLakra joined the community and in the following year Bro. BinuCherian was appointed as Bursar and teacher. After one year Bro. BinuCherian and Bro. Raj Kishor were transferred. Bro. Elias Tirkey replaced Bro. BinuCherian as bursar and Bro. PankajAwaya replaced Raj KishorLakra. Bro. RajuLakra joined the community in between the year. Likewise the number of community members increased consisting Bro. Varghese P. Principal, Bro. John Minj Superior, Elias Tirkey Bursar, PankajAwaya and RajuLakra as teachers in the school.

In December 2016 Bro. Varghese P. left the place and again Bro. John Minj was appointed as interim Principal of the School. Then the following year Bro. John Minj too was transferred from Harinagar to St. Montfort Bhopal. In 2017 Bro. PromodTete appointed as Superior and Principal of the school and still carried on the same responsibility. Bro. Promod continued last six year. During these years many Brothers and Sisters come and gone. Though they have left the congregation but their contribution to the school is always rembered.Bro. Alok Minj continued for last for your and transferred to Bangalore for the CRI studies.  At present three Brothers namely Bro.Promod Tete, Bro. Raju Lakra and Bro. Atish Bage and three sisters namely Sr. Mini Devascy, Sr. Lucy V.J and Sr. Victoria all of us are involved the school.
