Montfort Villa - Provincial House - Bhopal

Montfort Villa was born in 1992 when Bro. Philip Thadathil, along with Bro. Donald shifted the Provincial headquarters from Delhi to Bhopal in a rented house at Kalpana Nagar, Bhopal, and named it Montfort Villa. Later the present building, at Patel Nagar was blessed by Archbishop Eugene D’Souza. Archbishop of Bhopal, on 28th April 1995. Along with the Provincial house a school, the present Montfort Sr. Sec. School, Patel Nagar, was also started in the same building.

Construction and expansion of the building continued till 2004, during Bro. Jose Thottiyil as the Provincial. During this period more rooms were added to the school as well as the residence for more accommodation. The Secretariat, Chapter room, Provincial Superior’s office, the Archives, etc. were set up. The ground floor has a Chapel and a few living rooms for senior Brothers.

During the second term of Bro. Joy Joseph, as Provincial Superior, the Senior School building was ready and class three to twelve was shifted to the present campus and the Provincial House retained the pre-primary and primary up to class two.

Sometime in 2011-12, the vacated classrooms of the second and third floor were converted into living rooms, with an addition of a hall expanded dining room, and a new kitchen, giving the Provincial house the ambiance and facilities for holding Chapters, Retreats and other sessions.

Since the Province does not have a common cemetery, a memorial park, was set up in front of the Provincial house, for the departed Brothers.
